Who Is NovelBound?

When we say we’re obsessed with our own community, we mean it.
Not only is it a space for learning and growing as a writer, but it’s also a space to make real connections. Aside from hanging out in our virtual spaces, our members often connect IRL to meet up for writing dates and support each other in person.
We’ve watched our writers find agents, publish their debuts, have their first book signings, finish their drafts, and so much more. There is nothing better than doing all of this alongside each other.

Meet Sophie.
Hey everyone! I’m Sophie, one of the co-founders of NovelBound. Writing has been my passion since childhood when I met Marc Brown (who wrote the Arthur books) in kindergarten and decided I wanted to be an author/illustrator too. I love using that passion to work with other writers, from beta reading to giving query advice to brainstorming.
Here's a little bit more about me
- I work as a literary agency assistant, a freelance illustrator, and in education.
- I attended Columbia Publishing Course at Oxford University in 2025.
- I’m an agented author, but I also self-published my debut It’s Not the End of the World in May 2026!
- I like exploring high-stakes stories (like a zombie apocalypse, alien invasion, or your BFF getting accused of violent crime) through the lens of complicated relationship dynamics and coming-of-age themes.
- I have a degree in Creative Writing and Art & Design, and alongside multiple non-fiction and poetry publications, I wrote and illustrated a children’s book with my sister.
- I’m originally from Northern Illinois, USA, but travel is my favorite thing ever. I’ve lived short-term in four countries aside from the USA.
- Fun fact: I play the baritone ukulele, which is basically a tiny guitar.
I am so excited to be a part of NovelBound and all your writing journeys.
Meet Madi.
Hi all! I’m Madi, the other co-founder of NovelBound. Ever since I can remember, I’ve been writing. It wasn’t until 2022 that I decided I wanted to make the switch from treating my writing as a hobby to treating it as a career. I’m passionate both about what it takes to write a book, but also what it takes to build a career around being an author and learning how to navigate publishing––whether that’s indie or traditional.
Here's a little bit more about me
- I’m getting my (second) Master’s degree in Creative Writing from Cambridge.
- My first Master’s degree is in Entrepreneurship & Innovation, which I love to bring together with my writing side in an intersection of business and creativity.
- I’m currently working on my fourth novel and tend to write Fantasy, Dystopian, and Speculative fiction (and love to cross-genres).
- I travel frequently. If you’re looking for a travel buddy, I’m your girl!
- Aside from writing and NovelBound, I also work full time as a Community Manager –– it’s my other passion and I love getting to bring what I learn there to the NovelBound community.
NovelBound is a great place for writers at any stage and with any goals.
I hope you join us!

Meet Kym.
Hiya! I’m Kym, the NovelBound Operations and Retreats Coordinator. I’m a lifelong writer, but at my core, I consider myself a storyteller. Coming from a musical theatre background, I’m a firm believer that community is imperative in the creation of art. And nothing excites me more than getting to share my love of stories with fellow creatives through craftwork, constructive critique, and collaboration.
Here's a little bit more about me
- I’m an agented author with Fine Print Literary Management
- My work is often inspired by my Californian roots, and explores relationship dynamics and the cultivation of emotional intimacy. I love writing about flawed characters finding themselves (and each another) through stories with high heat and a dash of humor.
- I have degrees in Theatre Arts and English with an emphasis in creative writing, and minors in poetry & gender studies.
- When I’m not writing fictional Happily Ever After’s, I’m capturing them IRL as a professional wedding & elopement photographer (I’ve also taken many of the photos featured throughout the website! As well as author photos for a few of our members!)
- I’ve lived all over the world, but currently call Baltimore, MD home.
- Fun Fact: I have an eleven-year-old, toothless wiener dog named Sami who I never shut up about. She is my muse.
Meet Taylor.
Hi! I’m Taylor, the content assistant for NovelBound! I’ve been writing speculative stories since I was in elementary school, but I didn’t start taking writing seriously until after I graduated college in 2022! I love the way novels connect me with other people and show me perspectives I haven’t thought of before, and I’m committed to helping other writers throughout their journey! If you ever need help with your query package or someone that can beta read your novel in a week, I’m your girl!
Here's a little bit more about me
- Outside of reading and writing, my full time career is in scientific research! I have a Biochemistry degree from the University of Mississippi and currently work in an electron microscopy lab.
- I have completed the Editor in Book Publishing course from ELVTR, and I worked as a literary agency assistant for a year.
- I’m both a mood writer and a genre hopper, but I mostly write horror and sci-fi these days! I’m currently working on my sixth novel.
- I’m extremely passionate about animal rescue! I’ve helped rescue over 300 stray dogs and cats (and the odd ferret or turtle here and there).
- I’m working towards becoming a freelance editor!
- I can’t wait to cheer on my fellow NovelBound writers as they navigate drafting and publishing!

NovelBound is growing every day,
