My work contains explicit content and/or deals with topics that could be triggering — is that okay?Absolutely, we realize that writing is a great medium to explore topics of many areas. Albeit, we do have a few rules around these subjects for everyone's safety. NovelBound is open to minors as well as those 18+ so we do ask that you keep that in mind while sharing. In our beta reader program, please disclose if the content is 18+ and include any trigger warnings at the top of the document. Within our discord, any content that is NSFW, we can't allow.

Who qualifies as a next-gen writer?Overall, we feel that if you identify as a next-gen writer, then you are! But, to make sure that we keep NovelBound a safe place, we have an accepted age range of 15-35 years old with a particular focus on those 15-30. Thank you for understanding!

Do I have to come to all the events?No! Each event we host with an author or industry professional will also be recorded. If you miss one, we've got your back.

What if I don't like my For The Plot group?When assigning groups we have you fill out a very detailed questionnaire that we use to place you in a group that we feel will be a good fit. But, if for some reason the pairing doesn't work out, we'll switch you to a new group in the next round of matchings!

Why isn't NovelBound free?As much as we would like it to be different, there's an enormous amount of time, effort, and software that goes into making NovelBound possible. From the authors who do Q&As with us to keeping our community platform up and running — your membership cost goes DIRECTLY to keeping our community running. In conjunction with that, we understand that sometimes a subscription is just not financially possible. For this, the NovelBound team is working to create a scholarship program for next-gen writers who might need it. This hasn't been launched yet but we'll keep the community updated on when this program goes LIVE.

Will I get published if I join NovelBound?We really hope, so though we can't guarantee that joining NovelBound will get you an agent or publishing contract. BUT we strongly believe that being in a community of others pursuing the same goal helps tremendously in skill-building, perseverance, writer mental health, and knowledge sharing in a historically gatekept industry. Plus, it's fun!

Is NovelBound just for writers who want to be traditionally published?No! We have authors with all sorts of different publication goals part of our community. How to publish is a very personal choice and we applaud whichever way you choose to take. AND we've got the resources for both.

Do I have to write in a certain genre?Nope! All genres and sub-genres welcome.
